Greetings from sunny Mexico, and boy is it hot down here!!!
First time I have even had a chance to get to a computer to get some stuff down here for you all to catch up on.
What has been happening so for… lots of sun bathing… my freckles are loving it. We arrived here in the afternoon on Thursday and spent time in the beach. The water is warm and beautiful. We spend the day here Friday as well and made our way into the town of Playa Del Carmen for some Cinqo de Maya fun!!! And Yesterday we made our first adventurw to Chichen Itza.
What and amazing and spectacular site it is to see. Josue, our guide gave us much information out this amazing site. Some of which I will share when we get back. I was surprised to learn so much about the pyramid, which is what Chichen Itza is famous for, however, there is so much amazing sites to see in this one place. The temple itself is actually a calendar and has some amazing acoustical structures built into it. There is also a huge field where many games were played. And in this case being the victorious winner is not really a good thing.
There is also a temple to Venus, and so much more. The energy of Chichen Itza was powerful and strong. There seems to have been a lot of sacrifice that allegedly happened here thousands of years ago, but as far as I can tell the energy of the place was actually peaceful!
We also got to swim in a Cenote, which is a sinkhole. A lot of the water down here is from underground and these cenotes are cave like and cool to swim in. The tempurature at Chichen Itza exceeded over 100 degrees yesterday so the cenote was a very well needed cool experience.
Today was mostly spent relaxing in the sun… my apologies for rubbing that in… but it is a wonderful feeling…
Tomorrow we are of to Isla Mujeres, which is the Island of Women and has a temple to the goddess Ix Chel, a Maya earth goddess. Should be much fun. The next day we are off to Tulum, which is another Maya temple here on the coast, and then we are off to swim with dolphins!! So exciting. I will try and get on her again to say hello and keep you up-to-date on all the exciting things going in down here.
The earth needs much healing in this area, they have done a lot of work to take care of the destruction from hurricane Katrina but you can tell there is still much damage to be worked on. However that does not take away from the beauty!!!
Many Blessings
Lauren Ellen
