I was chatting with a friend of mine the other night about love. I had mentioned how in so many of my sessions I meet with people who are in relationship with another, but the emotion of love cannot be detected. After so many meetings, it just seemed a little sad to me, there are so many relationships, but no love.
My insightful friend had made the comment that people are so busy today that we often don’t have time to stop and enjoy our partners. Which means we don’t take the time to stop and enjoy the emotion of love! If there is one thing we as humans cannot live without, its love.
Since Valentine’s Day is here and present with us. I find even I have set myself up to work to hard on the day of love and not really where I should be, with my partner, the one who loves me the most. And the furry beast I call a cat, who also seems to love me unconditionally. So, per usual, I am only speaking from experience in this scenario.
Life has more stress than ever. I, being one of many, am wandering around worrying about this and that. Stressing about my jobs, peoples perception of me, money, the economy and all those I care about and their stress… sound familiar? Meanwhile, all this stress is taking me away from the love. Love that I bury deep in my heart and mentally say, “I haven’t forgotten you!!” or “I will get to you!”
I have slowly been stopping myself from this anguish. And it is a process. I have to mentally stop in my tracks to breathe. I have to mentally pause for a moment to think about the next place to go and be. I have to carve time in my life to find a loving moment with my relationship. These are all things that should just be happening naturally. But the more we run on automatic pilot, the more we move from who we really are meant to be and the more we become like zombies.
So take a moment to breathe. RIGHT NOW. STOP AND BREATHE!!
Feel the love in your heart center, like a whirlwind, a breeze… a vibration. Let this vibration permeate through all of who you are. Allow a calm sense to flow over you from head to toe and just bask in the love. You will feel your whole body relax in this moment, and allow. DO NOT fight the relaxation. Feeling the essence of love can sometimes make us forget what true relaxation feels like and your body will want to fight it…. so allow.
Give yourself permission everyday to feel a moment of love. Soon a moment will become longer and longer. Once you allow this love of self to build, you will begin to create a wealth of love. This will allow you to open your heart and remember what it feels like to really be in love with your partner, your family, your friends, mother earth, divine spirit and more… As all of these energies that surround you begin to feel and receive this love, they will in turn open and share with you and all the people around them as well… and we begin to pay it forward. It can take a little time before you notice the change that is happening around you. But when you do…. it will be a blessing!!!
